(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Assemblymember Lisa Calderon (D-Whittier) released the following statement in response to the White House's decision to withhold funding for Medicaid:
"The White House’s decision to withhold $1.3 billion in Medicaid reimbursements from California is not a fraud-fighting measure. This is an attack on the most vulnerable people in our state.
California has already paid the providers who served these patients, and refusing to reimburse the state for care that has already been delivered is intentionally hurtful. These are our seniors, families, and the community health care providers who show up to protect our communities everyday."
